Our Mission
Our mission is to cultivate a lifelong passion for music by fostering a meaningful cultural experience in music performance, understanding, and appreciation of the discipline and art of music. Our drive is to uphold the longstanding traditions of our program and provide a musical experience at the highest level. Through music, we aim to teach lifelong skills that students will use outside of the classroom. Our classroom is a safe place for students to express themselves through music.
Meet the Director
Mr. Ortiz was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. He earned his bachelor's degree in music education from Cal State Bakersfield. This is Mr. Ortiz's fourth year with the Ollivier Music Department. Having graduated from Ollivier, Mr. Ortiz understands the traditions and PRIDE established by the program throughout the years. Mr. Ortiz is an active member of organizations such as the California Music Education Association (CMEA), National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), and the Kern County Music Association (KCMEA). He is also active in our local music community and plays in community bands in addition to teaching.
